 Our Mission...
We are a non-profit corporation formed in 1984, whose mission it is to preserve, enhance, revitalize and promote the historically and culturally significant downtown areas of Westerly, R.I. and Pawcatuck, CT, unique as a two-state downtown.What We Do... We are the group taking the lead, with the towns of Westerly and Stonington, on infrastructure improvements such as the streetscape improvements and the River Walk. We assist downtown property and business owners with sign and facade improvements. We work on historically appropriate revitalization efforts and we use our resources to draw people downtown. |

Our History...
Our group was formed in 1984, when our beautiful river front buildings began to fold into the river itself. Some of our current board members were part of that original organization. Our Board of Directors... We have a total of 20 civic leaders and community members from R.I. and CT. on our Board.

You can get involved... As a non-profit organization we do not have "members", as such. However, we do host meetings for the public on the third Friday of each month at 9 AM on the third floor of the Westerly Public Library on Broad St. (except for during August and December). Come to our next meeting, or contact us directly!
Letters of Support & Endorsements... It is important to note that the Task Force has been endorsed by the Stonington Connecticut Board of Selectmen and the Westerly Town Council. Both governmental bodies have designated the Task Force the group best poised, as a long-standing non-profit dedicated to preservation & revitalization, to carry forward policy and infrastructure planning/maintenance issues. The Task Force has also received letters of support from, among others: Westerly Historical Society, Rotary Club, Jack Reed, John Chafee, R.I. Historical Preservation Commission, University of R.I. Small Business Development Center, Westerly Economic Development Board, Waterfront Transportation Greenspace, The Greater Westerly Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Business Association.
The Westerly-Pawcatuck Joint Development Task Force, Inc. is a federally recognized 501c3 non-profit organization. Tax deductible donations gladly accepted.
